Jose has arrived and he certainly didn’t hold back in his first press conference earlier this week.
He spoke of his ambition to take the club back into the Champions League at the first attempt whilst he seemingly dismissed Louis van Gaal’s constant need for a “philosophy” at the club.
If anything, we learnt its going to be Jose’s way or no way at all this season, just as expected.
And one area Manchester United fans will be casting a keen eye over all summer will be Jose’s transfer dealings.
Blaise Matuidi has been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford over the past couple of weeks but who could join him if he makes the move to England?
Which players could truly build the new foundations for Jose’s work in the years to come?
Here’s FIVE players that could follow Matuidi to United…
Wissam Ben Yedder
An extremely underrated Ligue 1 striker, Wissam Ben Yedder has been banging in goals for Toulouse at the top level for the past six years now, but last season he really came into his own.
23 goals in 41 appearances for his side really did save them from certain relegation but in all honesty, he’s better than this level now.
Whilst United have brought in Zlatan Ibrahimovic, you can’t help but feel they are still a little light in attack- and Ben Yedder would be a reliable option from the bench or the start.
Alex Sandro
Alex Sandro has been a revelation at Juventus since signing from Porto back in 2015 and he’s one that would really improve Jose’s squad.
He’s been used as a rampaging full-back by The Old Lady this season but he’s also competent on the wing.
He’s got bags of pace, is solid as a rock and would certainly oust the likes of Marcus Rojo from the side who, lets be honest, isn’t quite good enough at this level.
Karim Bellarabi
Another massive player for his club side, Karim Bellarabi has excelled for Bayer Leverkusen this season, just as he has done for the past few years now.
12 goals, nearly 50 appearances and bags of assists show just how important he is to the Bundesliga side, and he could prove tough to tempt if United did make a move.
Marko Arnautovic
With the signing if Henrikh Mkhitaryan being confirmed this week, United are looking strong on the wing going into next season.
But at the top level, you can never have too much quality and one Premier League man that has really impressed over the past couple of years is Stoke winger Marko Arnautovic.
He’s been huge in the resurgence of the Potters over the last year or so and he chipped in with 12 goals last season too. Whether he’d be an impact sub or sure-fire starter, it’d be a strong addition indeed.
Thiago
Thiago Alcantara is much more than just a holding midfielder.
The Bayern Munich man is perhaps the most exciting “defensive-minded” midfielder we’ve seen in years and he’s got the sort of personality that Mourinho loves.
From scoring scissor kick goals to embarrassing opponents with outrageous flicks and turns, Thiago screams personality and he’d be a great addition to a United team in desperate need of some energy.
