According to The Mirror, Liverpool youngster Rhian Brewster is wanted on loan by the likes of Aston Villa, Crystal Palace, Swansea City and Leeds United in January, but it is the interest of the latter in particular that raises a potential concern from the Reds’ point of view.
What’s the story?
Last week, it was revealed that Liverpool would be willing to let Brewster leave on loan for the remainder of the season.

That has led to interest from several clubs, with Villa said to be leading the race as it stands. However, the Premier League outfit face competition from Palace, Leeds and Swansea.
Nketiah should prove to be a warning
Whilst it is promising that two top-tier clubs are said to be interested in the 19-year-old, his lack of senior football would indicate that a move to the second level would be a better choice for him. Just look at what time in the Championship has done for Tammy Abraham, for example – the Chelsea striker has scored 10 goals in the Premier League already this campaign after stints with Bristol City and Villa.

However, a move to the Whites would surely be bad news for teenager, and he only has to look at the situation of Eddie Nketiah to be convinced of that. The Arsenal forward moved to Elland Road on a short-term basis earlier this campaign in the hope that he would secure plenty of first-team action. However, despite scoring five goals in 12 matches, he has yet to start in the league, with his only two inclusions in the first XI being in the League Cup. All in all, he has managed just 430 minutes of action, which equates to less than five full appearances.
With just two professional matches to his name despite turning 20 in April, Brewster needs first-team football. However, a move to Yorkshire would not guarantee that. If anything, Nketiah’s struggles indicate the exact opposite, and the increased pressure on Marcelo Bielsa during the expected promotion push will likely only make the situation worse. Brewster does need a loan move to help his development, but Leeds is not the place for him.
Meanwhile, Liverpool could be without one of the star men for the start of next season.
